A divorced single mother finds an unexpected romance with a much younger man while on holiday in Hawaii
Jacqueline Laurens is divorced for a year, the only one amongst all of her married friends. Her husband got the second house, the Porsche and the young girlfriend while Jackie got custody of their children, a broken heart and more guilt than she could sift through in a lifetime. Not to mention that it's Christmas and her 40th birthday is just around the corner. So when her best friend proposes a girls' weekend in Hawaii to celebrate, Jackie couldn't be more excited. But when her friend has to cry off Jackie gets on the plane by herself, more than a little lonely. But she's not lonely for long because she meets Kai, a gorgeous, confident yet sensitive surf instructor who re-awakens her zest for adventure and the fun side of herself that she thought she'd lost. The problem is that Kai is much younger than her but when it becomes clear it's more than a fling she doesn't expect her friends and family to be so opposed to her new relationship and to the way it's changing her, seemingly for the better. As she gets pulled in every direction and a surprise forces Jackie to completely re-evaluate her life - will she sacrifice her new relationship?
