It discusses the various "models" of nursing, such as Orem's self-care model and Roy's adaption model and follows this with specific clinical applications. There is a useful section on learning in clinical practice and also a section giving an overview of past research in psychiatric and mental health nursing, giving pointers for future researchers. This book aims to furnish psychiatric nursing students and practitioners with the theory they need for good, thoughtful practice. It is important that nurses are familiar with nursing models and this book aims to give the reader enough detail for understanding and more importantly to show the relevance of these nursing models for practice.
