A Home Built from Kindness and a Giant Snowball

Braving the cold is not as hard when you have friends to keep you warm. This gorgeously illustrated picture book about generosity and kindness by the acclaimed author-artist of A Friend for Eddy is perfect for fans of The Mitten by Jan Brett and The Mitten: An Old Ukrainian Folktale by Alvin Tresselt and Yaroslava.

A big storm is coming, and Chickadee is all alone in the cold. She doesn’t have a cozy home to keep her warm. Luckily, some geese notice poor Chickadee and huddle around her. But the storm is fierce, and the geese are soon shivering as well. Luckily, a furry fox notices the geese and wraps her bushy tail around them. But the snow is really falling now and soon the fox is shivering too. Luckily, a big bear notices the fox and wraps the chilly animals in a great big bear hug. But . with the snow falling all around them, and the wind blowing harder and harder, will Chickadee and her new friends ever stop shivering? And will Chickadee find a place to call home?

Ann Kim Ha, author of the acclaimed picture book A Friend for Eddy, writes and illustrates a beautiful story about friendship, kindness, and community support set in a magical winter wonderland. Featuring a classic text full of rhythm and repetition, this strong social emotional picture book is perfect for bedtime and for reading aloud at story-times.
