Poppy O’Neill wrote I Am Awesome because she believes that learning about how our minds work is the best way to grow self-esteem and understand our emotions. Poppy wanted to include the science behind self-esteem and how emotions work, as well as practical ways to build self-esteem.

Topaz/ Band 13 books offer longer and more demanding reads for children to investigate and evaluate.

Pages 30 and 31 allow children to re-visit the content of the book, supporting comprehension skills, vocabulary development and recall.
