The 6th century Chinese legend of Mulan is well-loved, telling the story of a plucky girl taking her aged father’s place when the army calls him up for service. In Disney’s 1998 animated feature film, Reflection reveals Mulan’s dilemma in being what society expects of her, against what she feels is her true self. A pewter Mulan, gilded in 24K gold, faces her adversary on a composite resin palace rooftop in a teal finish.

Since 1885, our designers and craftsmen have expressed their love and understanding of the material by continuously pushing the envelope in pewter design while staying true to our heritage of craftsmanship. Each Royal Selangor item is hand cast by pouring molten pewter into steel moulds quickly and efficiently.

After cooling, each individual pewter piece is polished and soldered onto other appendages such as spouts and handles, all done by hand. This attention to detail and precision has made Royal Selangor's pewter pieces durable and timeless.

Care and Maintenance

For over 100 years, our pewter pieces have marked significant moments in life and are often handed down from generation to generation. - Do not expose pewter to direct flame and heated surfaces
- As with any metal, pewter is not microwave safe.
- Do not scrub or scour with a brush.
- Pewter is not dishwasher safe.
- If you live by the sea, atmospheric salts can dull pewter surfaces.

24K Gilded Finish

- Wash in soapy water and rinse thoroughly.
- Dry immediately with a soft flannel.
- Avoid using any metal polish. This will dull the gilt finish.
