PHANTASMAGORIA

Released in 1972; Phantasmagoria is Curved Air's third studio album; pioneers of British progressive rock and possibly his most ambitious and artistically refined work. The album blends classic influences, psychedelic textures and early electronic experimentation into a coherent and theatrical journey. Main vocalist Sonja Kristina offers evocative and expressive interpretations enhanced by the innovative use of vocal processing and synthesizers. Violinist DarrylWay and keyboard/guitarist Francis Monkman drive the dynamic range of the album, from baroque scrolls to avant-garde soundscapes. The rhythmic section featuring Florian Pilkington-Miksa and Mike Wedgwood supports compositions with precision and style. Phantasmagoria demonstrates the band's ability to merge complexity and accessibility, offering both intellectual depth and melodic immediacy. His release marked a milestone in the first stage of Curved Air; he reached number 20 on British lists, harvesting critics for its originality. Ideal for classic progressive rock collectors; psychedelic rarities and albums that challenge genres; this LP is still a cult disc Whether rediscovered or heard for the first time; Phantasmagoria stands as a bold testament to musical imagination and technical brilliance.
