McKinley Morganfield, better known as Muddy Waters, is often cited as "the father of the modern Chicago blues." Without doubt he is one of the greatest blues singers in history. "At Newport 1960" revealed him at his very best, shouting his music above the discordant wail of a band that included Otis Spann, James Cotton, Pat Hare, Francis Clay and Andrew Stephens. Several songs on the album, new and unknown at the time ("Baby Please Don't Go", "Hoochie Coochie Man", "Got My Mojo Working") would become blues classics. The album is said to be one of the first live blues albums and is certainly one of the best. This reissue includes two bonus tracks from a performance at Carnegie Hall in New York..
