Vanaf 1914 tot en met 1945 ontwikkelt zich de Duitse oorlogsmachine in hoog tempo. Al in de eerste wereldoorlog waren de Duitsers machtig in de lucht. Piloten zoals Manfred van Richthofen (de Rode Baron), Ernst Udet en Herman Göring werden grote helden in Duitsland. Na het verdrag van Versailles aan het einde van WO I wordt de luchtmacht in het geheim verder ontwikkeld. Ten tijde van WO II verrast Duitsland de vijand wederom met een zeer geavanceerde machtige Luchtmacht. De Blitzkrieg was zonder hen onmogelijk geweest. De Stuca’s en Messerschmits werden gevreesd. Met deels nog nooit vertoond beeldmateriaal wordt getoond hoe de sterke Duitse Luftwaffe zich ontwikkelde en waartoe zij in staat was.
