Sci-fi action comedy starring Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer and Taika Waititi. Guy (Reynolds) is a regular bank teller whose world is built upon a daily routine that sees him wear the same clothes, order the same coffee and converse with his best friend, police officer Buddy (Lil Rel Howery). However, when Guy encounters a mysterious woman who goes by the name of Molotov Girl (Comer) he learns that the world he inhabits is actually a virtual role-playing game and he is a Non-Playing Character. Molotov Girl, whose real name is Millie, is in Free City because she is a programmer who is looking to get revenge on a rival programmer who stole her codes. Together Millie and Guy attempt to subvert the game in order to upset the game's publisher Antwan (Waititi).
