Netherlands released, PAL/Region 0 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Mono ), Dutch ( Subtitles ), SPECIAL FEATURES: Black & White, Interactive Menu, Scene Access, SYNOPSIS: The true face of humanity is sometimes unbearable to see. The legendary Swedish director Tore Sjöberg takes, after the impressive 'Mein Kampf', again the role of chronicler of the most grim chapters in the history of the 20th century. Sjöberg shows us the alarming development of arms and weapons technologies, whereby man is now able to self-destruct. An equally harsh as special highlight is the section on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the hours and days after the dropping of the atomic bomb. During the extensive research that preceded the film, Sjöberg and his team obtained images, created by local photographers. General McArthur, commander of Allied forces in Japan, shortly after the war, commanded to destroy all the recordings, but secretly copies were preserved for posterity. Rarely is the madness of war more effectively illustrated.Faces of War ( Krigets vanvett ) ( The Face of War )
