When 21-year-old Yves Saint Laurent met Pierre Bergé in the late 1950s, he found the man of his life. The timid young man had just taken charge of the struggling fashion house Dior and, with his groundbreaking designs, captured the world's attention. Dior became a top brand again, and the two lovers soon began their own businesses. This marked the beginning of a whirlwind career; Yves St. Laurent and Pierre Bergé turned the world upside down. Surrounded by hustle and bustle and glamour, the lovers traveled from the Paris catwalk to Studio 54 in New York, from bohemian Greenwich Village to Morocco. A life filled with friends like Mick Jagger and Andy Warhol, steeped in beauty and art, but also in drugs and bitter melancholy.

In 2008, after Yves's death, Pierre decided to part with their joint art collection, which they had built up with such passion. In doing so, he revealed the fruits of their ongoing quest for beauty and seduction.
