Johnny Knoxville maakt zijn star-debuut als de stevig drinkende, motorrijdende, rock en roll road manager Phil Kaufman. Als de legendarische zanger Gram Parsons sterft, steelt hij zijn lichaam. Hij heeft de zanger beloofd hem in Joshua Tree te begraven. Achtervolgd door de politie, Gram's vader en zijn verknipte ex-vriendin Betty, stort hij zich in een zwart komisch avontuur, dat hem diep de woestijn in zal voeren.
