Het leven van de stoere cross motorrijder Miles (16) verandert compleet wanneer hij tijdens een motorrit robothond A-X-L ontdekt. A-X-L is de nieuwste uitvinding op het gebied van militaire bescherming en is ontworpen om in te zetten tijdens gevechten. Hij is gewond en samen met Miles’ crush Sara neemt hij de zorg van A-X-L op zich. Wat blijkt? A-X-L is eigenlijk helemaal niet zo’n stoere oorlogshond als eerst werd gedacht, hij heeft gevoel.
