Nick Tortano is een slimme crimineel in Boston die graag hogerop wil. Nadat hij jaren heeft gewerkt voor de Italiaanse gangsters die hij zo bewondert, krijgt hij eindelijk de kans om zich te bewijzen aan de hoogste baas. Dat lukt, en Nick wordt officieel toegelaten tot de maffia. Maar kort daarna komt hij in aanvaring met een man die altijd veel geld in het laatje brengt voor de organisatie. Nick besluit een wig te drijven tussen hem en de baas.
