Trav'lin' Light

At the time Trav'lin' Light was made, Billie Holiday had only recently died (on July 17, 1959) and was an omnipresent legend (Carmen McRae also recorded a homage to Billie in 1961, titled Carmen McRae Sings Lover Man). Apparently, the making of Trav'lin' Light wasn't Anita's idea, but that of her producer. She explained in her autobiography that, "I also undertook, somewhat reluctantly, to do Trav'lin' Light, a tribute to my idol Billie Holiday. A reviewer said I took Lady's tunes and made them my own. It wasn't true but I liked hearing it."
