This edition presents the complete classic album Ella Swings Brightly with Nelson (Verve V64054), which was the first of Ella Fitzgerald’s various collaborations with the great conductor and arranger Nelson Riddle. All of the music recorded during these 1961 sessions has been included here (adding seven tracks to the twelve on the original LP), as well as two rare tunes from their initial 1959 collaboration (the Gershwin Songbook) which weren’t issued on that album. Thanks to Ella Swings Brightly with Nelson, Fitzgerald won a Grammy Award for Best Female Vocal Performance.
