One of the all-time-great rockers, the legendary Carl Perkins transformed his humble sharecropper roots into jumping, jiving rockabilly hits. He is regarded by many as one of the founding fathers of the genre. His influence has played a big part in the development of every generation of rockers and guitarists to follow in his wake, from The Beatles’ George Harrison to Dave Edmunds to The Stray Cats’ Brian Setzer. Perkins recorded the majority of his best work between the mid-’50s and the early ‘60s, including smashes like “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Boppin’ the Blues,” “Matchbox,” “Your True Love,” “Dixie Fried,” and “Pink Pedal Pushers,” to name just a few. The aforementioned songs, and many others, have been included on this essential 2-CD set, which compiles all of Carl Perkins’ 7” singles (A & B sides) originally taped in the U.S. between 1955 and 1962 by such iconic labels as 8 bonus tracks from the same period. The original gems presented here have been brilliantly remastered to achieve the most pristine sound. All of these sides helped to consolidate Carl Perkins as one of the great rock & roll / rockabilly pioneers.
