Among a welter of John Lee Hooker reissues this remastered offering of 2 LPs on one CD stands out from the crowd. Inclusion of the word folk in the titles was presumably an attempt to attract a white audience interested in traditional music. The Folklore of. , though by no means entirely unplugged, does include two acoustic tracks recorded at the 1960 Newport folk Festival.

Folk Blues was issued in 1962 but consists of earlier fifties electric recordings made for the Modern label.
