Despite their obvious strong musical chemistry, the latter album was their last recorded collaboration

Down Beat gave Nuther Fu ther a glowing review when it was first released: This is a consistently cooking, smouldering album with Stitt leading the way, all the way. He is cushioned with a big meaty rhythm section onto which he pours a mellow, suggestive tone and some mighty fine playing.
