Stéphane Grappelli's complete 1962 album Django (Barclay F84089), featuring the exceptional jazz violinist in a quartet format with the backing of guitar, bass and drums. A homage to his ex-partner Django Reinhardt, who had died in 1953, this LP contains Grappelli s only existing version of the classic John Lewis composition Django . As a bonus, the label has added nine extra quartet performances by the violinist. Four of these tracks feature Grappelli playing Django Reinhardt s compositions with Henri Crolla on guitar, while another one showcases Stéphane with Django s brother, Joseph, on guitar. The last four tunes were recorded live and appear here for the first time ever on CD. They include two further versions of Reinhardt s most famous composition, Nuages , which was also included on the primary LP. Includes 12-page booklet.
