Smokey was released on June 19, 1973, on Motown’s Tamla label and features the hits “Holly,” “Silent Partner in a Three-Way Love Affair,” and “Baby Come Close,” Robinson’s first solo hit single. Smokey peaked at number 70 on the Billboard albums chart, on which it spent 19 weeks.
