Miss Calypso

Miss Calypso is het debuut en enige studioalbum van de Amerikaanse schrijfster en dichteres Maya Angelou, uitgebracht in 1957. Het album werd uitgebracht tijdens een rage voor calypso muziek die het jaar daarvoor door Harry Belafonte was gekatalyseerd. Angelou zingt elk nummer op het album, en ze componeerde er vijf. Achter Angelou's stem creÙerden studiogitarist Tommy Tedesco en percussionist Al Bello een exotische sfeer. Angelou toerde ter ondersteuning van het album, waarbij ze calypso liedjes in nachtclubs ten gehore bracht. Het album was een bescheiden succes, maar Angelou maakte geen verdere platen meer als zangeres.
