Electrotren RENFE, 2-unit diesel railcar "Ferrobus", 591 series, "Regionales" livery, period V with DCC decoder

The popular Ferrobuses of the 591 series were omnipresent in practically the entire Spanish rail network for years. Because of the limited extent of electrification on the lines, almost all areas in the country were able to count on Cercanías or regional train services provided by these endearing diesel railcars. Until then, the majority of suburban or regional services had been carried out in the best of cases with railcars dating from the first half of the century. In other cases, services were operated with still steam locomotives, along with old-fashioned wooden coaches, that performed these services.With a power of 300 CV and a maximum speed of 90 km/h, they were a milestone for the modernization of RENFE's equipment fleet in the 1960s, revolutionizing short and medium-distance trips. Although its usual and best known composition is 2 units, there was also the 300 subseries, composed of 3 units from its origin. It was the first subseries used in service, being used in the areas where there was greater demand, as it allowed the passenger capacity to be increased without having to resort to double compositions.As a result of its success, it was decided to expand a subsequent sub-series to 4 units, and to use another one of 2 units for routes with less occupancy. Electrotren reproduces, under the reference HE2002, a 3-unit railcar from this subseries, in a version with UIC number plates, typical of the 1970s. HO ‎1.87 scale.
