Obwohl Bach sich beim Komponieren für die Blockflöte offensichtlich zu Hause fühlte und sie geschickt in wichtigen Werken wie den Brandenburgischen Konzerten und mehreren Kantaten einsetzte, scheint er nie ein Solokonzert für Blockflöte geschrieben zu haben - zumindest hat sich keines erhalten. Das Ensemble Cantica Symphonia leistet dem Mangel Abhilfe und hat für seinen Blockflötisten Lorenzo Cavasanti Bachs Cembalokonzerte BWV 1053 und BWV 1055 bearbeitet. Zusammen mit der Geigerin Liana Mosca spielt er zudem u.a. das Konzert BWV 1060 (ursprünglich für zwei Cembali).
