Spagna, 1939. Appena due settimane dopo la fine della Guerra Civile, il generale Franco ordina una cena celebrativa presso il lussuoso Hotel Palace di Madrid. Un giovane tenente, il maître dell’hotel e un gruppo di prigionieri repubblicani - oppositori del regime franchista ma dotati di grande talento in cucina - sono costretti a preparare il banchetto in tempi record. Tutto sembra procedere senza intoppi, ma i cuochi stanno pianificando non solo il banchetto.bensì anche la loro fuga.
