A Goto, una isoletta che il terremoto del 12 Gennaio 1887 ha tagliato fuori dal mondo, tre uomini amano la stessa donna, Glossia: il marito, Goto, che è anche il padrone assoluto dell'isola; il giovane ufficiale Gono ed il temibile Grozo, che, spinto dal desiderio di possedere Glossia, tenterà di spodestare il padrone. Intanto però Gono e Glossia, rapiti da una folle passione d'amore, tentano di lasciare l'isola.
