Johnny Peters, agente dell'F.B.I, insinuatosi nella banda di Joe Costello, muore proprio mentre i banditi stanno trasferendo il grosso quantitativo di lingotti d'oro rapinato. Costello viene preso dalla polizia ma durante un trasferimento riesce ad evadere e sottoporsi a un'operazione di plastica facciale.
