SINOSSI
Nel 1949, una missione cattolica nella Cina meridionale è occupata dalle truppe di Mao Dzedong. Due missionari cattolici, l'anziano padre Bovard e il giovane padre O' Banion, vengono arrestati senza motivo mentre avviene il passaggio di consegna tra il vecchio e il giovane prete. Sottoposti a dure pressioni da parte del colonnello Ho San, i due riescono a fuggire grazie alla rivolta della popolazione e con l'aiuto del malvagio capo comunista pentito.
