SINOSSI
Il commerciante di pellicce Jason Starbuck arriva dalla montagna nella città di Salem in Massachusetts con l'intento di vendere bene la sua merce e soddisfare qualche desiderio con il ricavato: l'anno è il 1800. S'innamora di Roxana Reil e la donna non esita a rompere un precedente fidanzamento e a partire per la Francia pur di stare vicino a Jason. La navigazione verso l'Europa è interrotta da un attacco di pirati, che rapiscono Roxana e la vendono in Marocco come schiava. Starbuck raggiunge il paese nord-africano, dove deve farsi alleato il sultano locale per sperare di riavere l'amata.
