In recent times, a search of the Red Recordsarchive led to the discovery of two quarterinchtapes, believed to be blank. Upon closerexamination, a single Sphere track wasdiscovered on each of the reels. A remarkablediscovery since, incredibly for such an importantjazz group, the official recording legacy is limitedto two Elektra Musician releases and two RedRecords live recordings.Now The Complete Live at Umbria Jazz containsseven tracks, three of which are compositionsby Buster Williams, on an album that givesspace to his bass. Three compositions thatpreviously appeared on Flight Path appear herein live performance: Pumpkins Delight by CharlieRouse, Christina, which is a dedication by BusterWilliam to his granddaughter, and the previouslyunreleased If Ever I Should Lose You.
