L'Highlander Colin MacLeod viaggia con il saggio fantasma Amergan alla ricerca del despota immortale Marcus Octavius, che ha ucciso Moja - l'amante di Colin - nelle pianure celtiche molti secoli prima. Giunto a New York si trova di fronte ad una citta' completamente in rovina, con la popolazione decimata da un terribile virus ed oppressa dal terribile Octavius; MacLeod si trova cosi' diviso tra il soccorrere i superstiti e liberarli dalla tirannia di Marcus e il dare la caccia alla propria nemesi per portare a termine la sua vendetta, in una delle battaglie pi epiche della storia degli Highlanders. Nel frattempo Colin incontra la bellissima Dahlia, una ragazza in lotta per la liberta' misteriosamente legata a Moja.
