Amedeo è ossessionato dal proposito di farsi ricevere dal Papa ma non ha le conoscenze adatte. Quando incontra Aiché, una prostituta di alto bordo, prova a farsi introdurre da lei nell'alta società romana, ma tutti i personaggi che trova sulla sua strada, anziché aiutarlo, tentano di allontanarlo. Gli rimane vicino solo Aiché, ma Amedeo non rivela neanche a lei ciò che vuole dire al Pontefice.
