I coniugi Sheri e Miles Bennett hanno da tempo adottato una bambina, Jane, della quale ignorano le origini. La madre della piccola e' Andrea Flechter una donna che, abbandonato il marito, si e' unita a Jude, un ballerino che ora fa il clown fotografo in un parco di divertimenti. Dimessa dopo cinque anni da un manicomio, la Flechter vorrebbe rapire Janie ma viene uccisa da Jude. Nonostante questo, la signora Bennet viene assalita da terribili presagi e da manifestazioni paranormali.
