"Loucos - In the Magic Place" is the return to the discography of the historical nucleus of Opus Avantra headed by the unmistakable voice of Donella Del Monaco and the virtuosity of Alfredo Tisocco on piano and composition, founders with Giorgio Bisotto, philosopher of the group, who, even if he left us prematurely, is present as well as with his great artistic spirit, with his recorded voice. With them the other founder, Renato Marengo, from the beginning of production, exactly 48 years ago. Opus Avantra, in their magical combination of AVANt-garde and TRAdition so radically written in their name, mix even today in their new work near and far worlds: classical, contemporary, jazz, rock, tradition and ethnicity. As stated in the very topical Manifesto written in that "very close" 1973: "Our musical ensemble arises from a need to overcome the state of impasse in which the musical world finds itself today. In fact, we can see that the musical world today is divided into various sectors that cannot be communicated with each other, closely linked to socio-cultural stratifications. This pluralism tends to reproduce itself, causing increasingly mystifying situations as they avoid resolving the frustrating current condition of individual atomization. (.) Without denying the validity of certain contemporary music (but rather accepting it) nor the attempts of some pop groups, (but also without any complex towards past experiences) our intention is essentially aimed at recovering that fundamental and essential relationship between art and people ". Precisely in this perspective among the artists who gravitate around Donella Del Monaco's singing and Alfredo Tisocco's keyboards we find musicians, from yesterday and today, only prejudiced so far from each other: in fact, there is the return of Tony Esposito with the his percussion and his sounds, there is also Claver Gold who raps poetically with Donella and inevitably leads the project towards the sounds of today. And then there is the fundamental collaboration of Alan Bedin on the voice and the Indian tarang, on the very current electronic arrangements, which he also put his expert hands into the mixes edited by Nicola Frigo and Stefano Bruzzolo. And the flute, always perfectly balanced, together with the sax, between classic and rock by Mauro Martello. And still other exceptional soloists, some of whom for some time, such as Mauro, with Donella in Opus, such as Laura Balbinot (cello) and Damiano Bacchin (violin), Pietro Bertelli and Valerio Galla (percussions), Mirko Satto (accordion), Andrea De Nardi (bass and Synt). But in "Loucos" there is also a great reinforcement to the classical zone that runs a little throughout the record, with the Evolution Tempo Ensemble directed by the Romanian maestro George Natsis and the string formation Passione Cvartet from Bucharest, often on stage with Tisocco. Deep, today as then, the goal of being able to change the world thanks to music which, far beyond being pleasure and beauty, knows how to enter the fibers of memory and become an identity element of a person or a generation or a people. Today this yearning for change is written right between the lines of the tribute to the Venice Lagoon where a warning emerges that wants to remember the fragility of the eco-system that is manifesting itself on the whole planet.
