Il vampiro conte Mitterhaus, morendo ucciso dai paesani che incendiano il castello, manda la propria amante Anna, da lui vampirizzata, presso il cugino Emil, anche lui vampiro che opera nel "Circo della Notte",perché esegua la maledizione sugli abitanti. Il Circo guidato da una misteriosa zingara (Anna), giunge al villaggio seminandovi la morte, che il medico attribuisce ad una epidemia e gli abitanti al maleficio del conte vampiro. Il sangue delle giovani vittime, tra cui gli studenti di un pensionato dove Emil trasformato in pantera nera fa una strage, serve a nutrire il cadavere vivente del conte Mitterhaus. In un'ultima reazione gli abitanti superstiti incendiano il circo distruggendolo e, riesumato i conte vampiro, gli trafiggono il cuore con un paletto, liberando dall'incubo l'intera zona devastata da tanto terrore e innumerevoli lutti.
