In un villaggio canadese della mitica era dei pionieri vivono Kevin e Buck, il suo inseparabile amico a quattro zampe. Zeb, il padre di Kevin, e' un cacciatore d'oro che ha sfidato le ostilita' di una natura selvaggia ed e' riuscito ad accumulare una grande ricchezza. Ma i cattivi sono in agguato: per impossessarsi dell'oro di Zeb, la spietata Ma' Dalton e i suoi figli irrompono nel villaggio uccidendone tutti gli abitanti. Gravemente ferito, Kevin riesce a sopravvivere grazie alle cure di un misterioso sciamano che gli dona un braccialetto dai magici poteri.
