jocelyn, donna fragile e da poco divorziata, si vede costretta a proteggere i suoi due figli dal pericoloso padre dennis, al quale il tribunale ha affidato la custodia. jocelyn fugge con i ragazzi, con il tenace amico jim, che la guida attraverso un mondo sommerso, per tentare di regalarle finalmente la sicurezza che insegue. la mamma e i suoi bambini si trovano cosi' a combattere non soltanto contro un sistema giudiziario ingiusto, ma dovranno anche difendersi dalla caccia di un investigatore privato senza scrupoli, che dennis ha inviato sulle loro tracce.
