Nel corso di una rapina a casa di una ricca famiglia milanese, il ladruncolo Bertarelli Franco, detto «Venticello», è costretto a nascondersi sotto il letto per non essere beccato. Dalla sua posizione, tutto ciò che vede è un piede tatuato che sarà la chiave per svelare un misterioso omicidio di cui sarà involontariamente testimone. Uscito dal suo nascondiglio infatti, scoprirà che la padrona di casa è stata assassinata e per questo crimine, verrà ingiustamente condannato. Per Venticello, questo è solo l’inizio…
