Saranno proprio le vicende personali di quest'ultimo, i rapporti con la ex-moglie e con la figlia, ad essere al centro della storia. Il film e' liberamente ispirato al libro "Angel Face: The true Story of Student Killer Amanda Knox", che racconta la vicenda della studentessa americana condannata, assolta e di nuovo sotto processo per l'omicidio di Meredith Kercher, avvenuto nel 2007 a Perugia.
