A Shangai durante gli anni trenta, una canzonettista viene ricattata da un suo ex amante, una spia russa. Costui la costringe a predisporre una trappola di cui dovrebbe cadere vittima un politico cinese che ha giurato di sterminare una setta di assassini. L'agguato però non ha successo e la cantante uccide il russo che voleva fargliela pagare. Poi la donna s'imbarca per l'Europa con la figlia, ma mentre sale a bordo gli uomini della setta la raggiungono.
