In una desolata regione del Messico si produce, durante un violento terremoto, un fenomeno pauroso: dalle voragini del terreno fuoriescono degli scorpioni giganti che seminano terrore e morte. Due geologi, Hank Scott e Arturo Ramos, in collaborazione con le autorità militari, predispongono un piano per fermarli.I due si fanno calare nella voragine e cercano di farla saltare con la dinamite.
