Mr. Ziegfeld, che ha passato la vita ad allestire a Broadway grandiose riviste, è morto. Ma anche in Paradiso ottiene il permesso di mettere in scena una serie di numeri musicali con i maggiori interpreti del genere. Fred Astaire compare in quattro dei quattordici episodi; in sua compagnia troviamo Cyd Charisse, Lucille Ball e anche Gene Kelly. In solitario invece Red Skelton, Judy Garland ed Esther Williams. Non tutti gli episodi sono allo stesso livello, ma Minnelli ne coordina alcuni da antologia.
