Cyrano de Bergerac, nobile guascone, spadaccino e poeta, ama Rossana, sua cugina, ma ha un problema: ha un naso talmente grosso che gli impedisce di confessare il suo amore. Rossana all’oscuro del sentimento che prova Cyrano nei suoi confronti lo sceglie come suo confidente. La cugina è follemente innamorata di Cristiano, cadetto di Guascogna, e terrorizzata che gli possa accadere qualche cosa, prega Cyrano di proteggerlo. Cristiano dal canto pensa di sfruttare l’abilità poetica di Cyrano.
