Frankie Dane is the leader of the Hornets, a local street gang. When one of his members is pointed out to the police by a neighbour for having a gun, Frankie promises revenge, and when the same man humiliates him in public, he decides to murder him. But only two members of the Hornets, Lou Macklin and 'Baby', are keen to follow him. Social worker Ben Wagner, from the local youth centre, has been trying to help the gang, particularly when Richie, Frankie's younger brother, confides to him that he believes that Frankie intends to kill someone. Wagner attempts to have some help from Frankie's mother and Mr. Gioia, Baby's father. A clash of personalities follows, as Frankie tries to pursue his mission and defy Wagner's intermissions, and this will lead to several lives being put at risk.Crime in the Streets (1956)
