Era Mio Padre

Negli anni '30 in Illinois, Michael Sullivan, che sembra un tranquillo padre di famiglia, è in realtà un killer molto temuto soprannominato "l'Angelo", luogotenente del gangster irlandese John Rooney insieme al figlio di questi, Connor. Una notte, suo figlio, Michael jr., vede il padre e Connor uccidere alcuni gangster rivali. Per questo Connor vuole eliminarlo ma Michael sr. riesce a convincerlo che suo figlio non parlerà. Più tardi Michael riesce a sfuggire ad un agguato ma Connor gli uccide la moglie e il figlio minore Peter, che viene scambiato per Michael jr. Da quel momento padre e figlio iniziano un viaggio della vendetta che sarà anche occasione per costruire un vero rapporto tra loro e, mentre il padre cerca di salvare quanto rimane della famiglia, il figlio è costretto a crescere in fretta.
