PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The third generation M1 Abrams tank is the backbone of the U.S. Military and Marine Corps tank divisions. The Abrams is characterised by heavy armour (it is one of the heaviest combat vehicles in the world) and the use of the powerful multi-fuel turbine engine. The protection of the crew has been given great attention thanks to the separate and heavily protected ammunition depot. Commissioned in the early 1980s to replace the obsolete M-60, the M1 Abrams offers a sophisticated fire control system and modern armor. Initially armed with a 105 mm cannon, it was then equipped with the more modern and powerful 120 mm smoothbore cannon, with which different bullets can be used. The Abrams have been used with deadly effect in all major operations from the Middle East to Afghanistan and has proven to be superior to all other enemy tanks.
