The Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger I is certainly one of the most famous tanks of the Second World War. It was designed to equip the Wehrmacht tank divisions with a heavily armored and heavily armed tank and complement the most popular medium tank combat vehicles Panzer III and Panzer IV that were no longer able to effectively fight the enemy tanks. The main armament was the famous and deadly 88 mm long anti-tank gun KwK 36 L/56. Installed in the tower and protected by a heavy shield of 120 mm, it was able to penetrate the armour of any enemy vehicle of that time, even over long distances. It was used in all important areas of application and actively participated in the German military operations in Normandy and on the Western Front. Although the heavy tank had to deal with problems of reliability and deployment, it was always very feared in the hands of experienced crews in the Allied forces.
