The North American P-51 Mustang is, without a doubt, one of the most famous aircraft in the history of air force and is considered the best single-seater fighter with traditional piston engine of World War II. among the first versions realized, the P-51A was used in operational actions already in 1942. It used the new Allison V-1710 engine, capable of delivering significant power and making the aircraft reach the maximum speed of over 650 km/h, and was armed with four 12.7 mm Browning machine guns installed in the wings that guaranteed good firepower. the already significant autonomy of the aircraft could be increased with the adoption of two subalar tanks. He was employed by the U.S.Air Force and the British Royal Air Force, under the name Mustang Mk.II, immediately obtaining excellent operational results in the missions of air defense, escort to bombers, and tactical support.
