Seit dem Jahr 2014 entstehen im Rahmen von Konzerten der J. S. Bach-Stiftung in St. Gallen exemplarische Aufnahmen sämtlicher Kantaten Johann Sebastian Bachs, die Stück für Stück sowohl als reine Audio-Alben als auch als audiovisuelle Produktionen erscheinen. Letztere werden periodisch als Sammelboxen veröffentlicht. Die vorliegende Box „Bach Erlebt XVI“ umfasst wieder 14 DVDs mit 14 Kantaten. Jede einzelne Disc enthält komplette Live-Filmaufnahmen der jeweiligen Kantate, außerdem eine musikalisch-theologische Werkeinführung und eine Reflexion aus heutiger Sicht über den Kantatentext mit bekannten Bach-Kennern, bspw. Emma Kirkby, Michael Maul und Usama Al Shahmani.
