Auf ihrem neuen Album "The Nature Of The Blues" erschafft die Band MATS-UP eine radikal neue Klangwelt, die zugleich rätselhaft und vertraut klingt. Ausgangspunkt für die Kompositionen ist die Naturtonreihe die wir von den ältesten Musiktraditionen, wie dem Obertongesang oder dem Alphorn her kennen. In einem jahrelangen Prozess, in dem jeder der fünf Musiker sein Instrument sozusagen von Grund auf neu gelernt hatte, wurde dieses Klangreservoir für die Improvisation nutzbar gemacht. Kaum zufällig stossen die Musiker dabei auf die allertiefsten Wurzeln der "Jazz" genannten Musik: Den Groove als Ausdruck kollektiver Energie und den Blues als Ausdruck der Individualität. versione inglese: Nel loro ultimo album «The Nature Of The Blues», il gruppo MATS-UP ci presenta un mondo sonoro radicalmente nuovo, enigmatico e familiare. Ogni composizione parte dalla serie di toni naturali come si trova nelle più antiche tradizioni musicali come il canto armonico o le melodie per il Corno delle Alpi. Il processo creativo ha permesso anche a ciascuno dei cinque musicisti, in un certo modo, di riscoprire da zero il proprio strumento; è da questo «repertorio dei suoni» che hanno tratto ispirazione per le loro improvvisazioni. Non è quindi per pura coincidenza che i musicisti si sono imbattuti nelle radici originarie di quello che comunemente è noto come «jazz»: si tratta invece del groove come espressione di energia collettiva e con il blues nato dalle firme individuali.
